1934 Mickey Mouse Radio

1934 Emerson Mickey Mouse Radio - Model 411

What you see here is the original 1934 Emerson Mickey Mouse radio Model 411 with its retail box. The earliest models featured a cleft design on the volume and tuning dials, followed in later years by more of an “X” or star pattern. Each radio featured Mickey Mouse on four panels whimsically playing different instruments, including a tuba, flute, piano, and cello. While having a carved wood appearance, each panel was actually made of a material called “syroco wood”, a composition including wood pulp, flour, and binders, which was then formed into the shapes desired, in this case Mickey showcasing his musical talents.
